This exhibition is at Creative Response in Farnham which is in the same building as Farnham Library. The exhibition charts the work from my degree and MA at UCA Farnham. The gallery at Creative Response proved to be an excellent setting for the work which began with thrown forms then went onto slip cast bottles which were initially made for the Jane Austen house/museum.
I decide to make it interactive by taking down the do not touch the artwork signs as I believe you should be able to touch the work, it makes it more accesible to people. Also as work is sold people take it with them so that there are empty spaces which I also like. It makes it more interactive and pieces are moved around the gallery space.
The work I am involved in for the MA is to do with curating & display and why we collect non-utiliterian objects in our private spaces and the difference between these and public displays in museums. I am interested in the negative space around objects as it would appear that the more space you have around an object the more value it appears to have. If anyone has any comments / ideas that relate to this subject area I would welcome them.
